M.J. "Jack" Gruber was a B-17 pilot with the 711th Bomb Squadron of the 477th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force during WWII. He flew 33 combat missions. On one of his last missions he had to ditch his B-17 in the English Channel. (recorded in 2002)
